Win10 C Drive Junk Cleanup Tutorial
Win10 deletable paths, pairing Disk Cleanup with tools, and safe update cache handling.
Win10’s built-ins + manual paths + third-party preview—the steady trio.
Deletable paths
- Update cache:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download(stop update services first). - Temp files:
%TEMP%,C:\Windows\Temp. - Error reports:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue. - Store cache:
LocalCacheunderAppData\Local\Packages.
Flow
- Open Storage Sense or Disk Cleanup, check system files, and run once.
- As admin, pause Windows Update/BITS, delete Download, then restart services.
- Use third-party tools to sweep browser/WeChat/game update packages, clean after confirming whitelists.
- Empty Recycle Bin, reboot, and verify updates, drivers, and common apps.
Tips
Don’t touch winsxs or DriverStore drivers; keep reports for reuse; on work PCs, ask IT before deleting to avoid trouble.
Tool combos
- Lightweight: Disk Cleanup + Storage Sense.
- Deep: DISM to trim components; third-party tools add preview/whitelists.
- Automation: put cleanmgr/sagerun in Task Scheduler for a weekly run.
